Like I’ve said many times before, I really think Cheri should be a model. She’s super photogenic and the subject of many of Rakel’s good photos when she was here at the beginning of the year.
So it wasn’t much of a surprise when her friend Alvin invited Cheri over for a photoshoot at his new studio (which is also his living room!). I was invited along as I was the “stylist” meaning I helped Cheri choose her outfits the night before. I must say, it isn’t as simple as it seems since Cheri looked good in almost everything she showed me! In the end though, we narrowed it down to three outfits and matching accessories.
BTW Cheri’s new house is awesome. And I know for a fact that Muffin agrees!
The experience was quite surreal. I always thought that those kinds of photoshoots were reserved for people about to be married or families. But stepping into Alvin’s studio and seeing all his works of art lining the wall, it dawned on me that photoshoots can also just be for fun. I started getting really excited when I saw how good his photos were and couldn’t wait for the session to start.
Below are my POV of the session that ensued. It’s quite blurry cos’ I didn’t want to turn on my flash in case I messed up Alvin’s shots. If you want to see some of the pictures he took, click here.

First look: Casual-smart-fun. LOL Totally contradictory but that’s how I would describe it. Loving the pink heels, Cheri. =)
She was a little shy at first but after a few laughs she was her usual charming self.
And I think I was pulling funny faces behind Alvin’s back and making weird gestures. To help her of course. I’m not weird.
Ahem.

These kind of uber-bright photos happen when I click the same time Alvin's umbrella-lights go off.

Second look: Spring/summer fun. Lovely flow-y dress with colourful accessories.
By this time I had let Muffin run around a little. She makes a few appearances in the shots!

Muffin: What the heck is going on?!

See what I mean about photogenic? She wasn't even posing!

And it's back to work. =)

Third and final look: Casual fun. New floral printed skirt and basic black tee with a tan belt and earthy accessories.

We didn’t really expect to get to the third outfit so we only managed a few shots of this.

And we were done! We sat around for a little bit, chatted then Cheri and I had to rush off to pick Mich up before heading to Oakleigh for some ice skating (where we learned how to stop and how to make forward and backward lemons – I was an epic fail in that T.T ).

But yes, the photoshoot was an unforgettable experience. It kind of makes me want to venture into photography!
Hmm, maybe if I had a better camera.

ps/ Backstreet Boys’ songs still rock my socks and I’m not afraid of admitting it. =P
